About

Mission Statement

The purpose of this website is to digitally preserve the history of the acquisition and addition of property to Liberty University’s main campus in Lynchburg, VA, from its founding in 1971 to the present day.

About the Site

The significance of the content of this website will pertain to the history of the development of what is now Liberty University’s property and how the growth of the property relates to the growth of the school as a whole. The purpose is to present this information in digital form because no current comprehensive history exists, and putting it in digital form will preserve the history in a unique way that will reach more people. The website will contain information about the history of the different pieces of property that make up main campus today.  A clear definition of main campus and the mountain property will be given based on our extensive research to aid users in understanding the content provided.

This website will bring value to more than the students currently attending Liberty. Knowing the history of the University's main campus property will serve as a valuable tool to alumni, faculty, admirers and supporters of the Falwell legacy, and the surrounding Lynchburg community. Similar to the University’s mission to train Champions for Christ, this website will allow Liberty’s Champions to reflect on where they have been and where they can go in life.
