Other Main Campus Property
The three parcels on the southwest end of the campus were each added individually in 1980, 1983, and 1987, respectively. In those years, the private owners either sold or donated the land to the Old Time Gospel Hour, which was the radio ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church. The Old Time Gospel Hour then donated the properties to the University.
The first property was purchased by Old Time Gospel Hour in 1980 and donated to Liberty University in 1990. This property was a parcel added onto "the Circle," the second original grouping of dorms on the main campus. This addition allowed for four more one-story dorm buildings to be built. It also included land south of the Circle where an additional four dorm buildings were built.
The second property was purchased by Old Time Gospel Hour in 1983 and dealt to mulitple realtors and developers before it was officialy donated to the Univeristy in 1997. While the buying and selling of property can be traced on paper, not enough research has been done yet to determine exactly when construction was started and completed on these properties. It may be that even though the property was technically not owned by Liberty University, they still built on it before 1997. This property was a parcel added past the Circle that included four dorm buildings that became known as the Quads.
The third property was donated to Old Time Gospel Hour in 1987 which donated it to Liberty Univesity in 1993. This property was a parcel added past the Quads that included one high-rise building that was named South Tower.
This information was found in Ownership History records made available through the Lynchburg County Clerk's office.
