For the design of this website, we wanted something attractive yet functional. There are three main groups of pages (besides the Home page), which are displayed on the main menu as About, Exhibit, and Resources. In addition to the main horizontal menu, vertical menus are present on most pages to ensure easy navigation. The About pages include the mission statement and general information about the site and describe our current stage in the development of the website and the project as a whole. The Exhibit pages of the website will either narrate information about our research, display digital materials, or act as a gateway to subcategory pages. The Resources pages consist of a bibliography and list of resources for further research. The website has a blue, white, and green color scheme that represents the Blue Ridge Mountains that surround Liberty University.
The digital media on this website will include: PDF documents, images, and video. There are already PDFs and images in each respective category in the Gallery. Most of the PDFs are digital scans of documents like deeds, wills, brochures, and any other relevant historical documents. The images include original photographs as well as pictures of other photographs. The videos to be included will all be footage of personal interviews.
The main portions of text that will be added will be narratives placed on the Exhibit pages: Prior Ownership and Liberty University Ownership. These narratives will explain the findings of the research pertaining to each subcategory. Along with these narratives, text explaining the journey behind the research and creation of the website will also be added.
