This is the deed to one of the first property puchases made by the college found in Deed Book 473, pg. 804-819, at Campbell County Courthouse.

The grantor was the United States Gypsum Company, and the grantees were William H. Burruss, Jr., Wayne B. Booth, and Thomas L. Phillips, all friends of Jerry Falwell, Sr.  We believe this deed describes the land located on and around Candler's Mountain that was bought for the college in 1973 after some initial small purchases near Montview.  

Only pages 804-806 appear here.  Because of the length and detail of the deed, we were not able to read or copy it in its entirety. 

Also, because of time constraints, we were not able to examine the plats accompanying this deed.
